Instead of Handing Out Other People’s Money, Try Fixing the Economy

Unemployment is over 12% in South Carolina. The stimulus bill was a ruse and a failure. Unemployment continues to rise; foreclosure continue to increase. America is far worse off than it was just one year ago, yet rather than go to the U.S. House and promote legislation that would grow the American economy, Congressman Jack Spratt is giving away your money to people out of work.

U.S. Rep. John Spratt, D-S.C., said in a statement Friday: “In the House, we have a full agenda, but extending unemployment benefits is at the top of that agenda. We are working on a jobs bill, and it’s agreed there will be an extension of unemployment benefits as part of that package.”

The State

The unemployed need jobs, not welfare checks off the backs of those of us busting our asses everyday at work.  What Spratt should be doing is advocating and introducing legislation that will make America competitive again.  We need to cut Capital Gains taxes, business taxes, and income taxes and most of all stop spending in Washington in order to encourage investment, foster economic growth, and stabilize the plummeting American dollar.  This is what Spratt should be speaking out on, but instead he is giving away your money.  Who made him your financial adviser?
