Spratt: Federal Involvement in Health Care Justifies More
At a City Club breakfast this morning in Rock Hill Jack Spratt made quite a perceptive observation.
Responding to opponents unhappy with more government intervention, Spratt noted the ways Washington is already involved in health care, from Medicare and Medicaid to health care for veterans. An estimated 46 percent of all health care costs are paid by federal and state governments.
“Folks tell me they don’t want medical care made in Washington,” Spratt said. “I understand the sentiment. Here’s the reality: The federal government has a huge stake in health care already.”
It doesn’t even occur to ole Bubba that all this Federal involvement in our health care system might be the big problem.
