Instead of Handing Out Other People’s Money, Try Fixing the Economy

Saturday, 21. November 2009 11:46

Unemployment is over 12% in South Carolina. The stimulus bill was a ruse and a failure. Unemployment continues to rise; foreclosure continue to increase. America is far worse off than it was just one year ago, yet rather than go to the U.S. House and promote legislation that would grow the American economy, Congressman Jack Spratt is giving away your money to people out of work.

U.S. Rep. John Spratt, D-S.C., said in a statement Friday: “In the House, we have a full agenda, but extending unemployment benefits is at the top of that agenda. We are working on a jobs bill, and it’s agreed there will be an extension of unemployment benefits as part of that package.”

The State

The unemployed need jobs, not welfare checks off the backs of those of us busting our asses everyday at work.  What Spratt should be doing is advocating and introducing legislation that will make America competitive again.  We need to cut Capital Gains taxes, business taxes, and income taxes and most of all stop spending in Washington in order to encourage investment, foster economic growth, and stabilize the plummeting American dollar.  This is what Spratt should be speaking out on, but instead he is giving away your money.  Who made him your financial adviser?

Spratt – I rarely vote against my own constituency

Wednesday, 18. November 2009 19:53

At a recent town hall meeting, Spratt claimed that he rarely votes against his own constituency. The crowd laughs at him and this was before his abominable vote for the health care bill. He apparently didn’t get the hint.

Spratt Will Seek Another Term

Wednesday, 18. November 2009 19:01

According to an interview conducted by FITSNews with a spokesman for Spratt, the Congressman is definitely in the game next year to try and win another term.  Sadly for Spratt, he is going to have to face Mick Mulvaney, a State Senator from Indian Land and unlike the past elections Spratt is used to, facing token candidates, Mulvaney is no slouch.  In Columbia, Mulvaney has been a pillar for limited government and more personal freedom.  This is a tune that is going to ring loud and clear next year as those of us in the Fifth Congressional District get more and more sick of the Federal government leading us down a road to financial bankruptcy and infringements of our liberties, all supported quite enthusiastically by John Spratt.

Help Mick Mulvaney defeat Congressman Spratt next year.  Volunteer your time and/or donate to the campaign.  Even if you can only spare $5, it all adds up.

Welcome to DumpSpratt.com

If you are a resident living in South Carolina’s Fifth Congressional District, you might be feeling a little irked lately like me.  Our representation in Washington D.C. has gone missing.  No, our elected “representative” is still there, it’s just his representation that has gone A.W.O.L.

For 27 years Congressman John Spratt has gone to D.C. and cast thousands of votes on behalf of the people of upstate South Carolina.  There may have been a time when Mr. Spratt’s representation reflected the values of this district, but that certainly isn’t today.  The Fifth has changed over the years, but Congressman Spratt has not.  Communities such as Rock Hill, Fort Mill, and other parts of the district have been overflowing with folks from Charlotte and even other parts of the nation seeking the benefits of an area shaped and nurtured on typical middle class American values:  low taxes, quiet affordable communities, and neighborly residents.  These are people who work hard for a living, want the government out of their lives, and raise their families with traditional American morals, respect, and personal responsibility.  Why then do we have a representative in Washington casting votes weekly for policies and procedures that reflect the exact opposite of our residents?

John Spratt does not represent Rock Hill or Chester or Gaffney or Kershaw or Darlington.  He’s made it abundantly clear, particularly during this current Congress, that he is in Washington to carry out the agenda of the radical leadership of his party and the people of San Francisco.  The Fifth Congressional District is made up of a majority of people who oppose the economically destructive policies of Cap and Trade, but John Spratt eagerly supported it.  The people of the Fifth Congressional District oppose their hard earned dollars going to bailout big corporate fat cats on Wall Street from their mistakes while unemployment in Chester County surpasses 20%, but John Spratt thought that was A-OK.  The people of the Fifth Congressional District oppose oppressive mandates by the government that would result in them being thrown in jail if they are not able to afford to purchase health insurance, but John Spratt is thrilled with the plan.  And while middle class families are having to tighten their budgets and struggle to make ends meet in a weakened economy, Congressman John Spratt chaired the very committee that authorized a Federal budget with a gaping hole of almost $2 trillion for one fiscal year, passing this debt on to the children and grandchildren of the people he is “representing.”

You may be asking yourself what’s wrong with this picture.  The answer is clear.  Congressman John Spratt has been in Washington for too long and has forgotten that he works for the people.  The solution is even more clear.  He needs to retire or be retired in next year’s election.  If you, like me, have had enough and are fed up, please join me in helping to rid our Congress of John Spratt and elect a new representative who will go to D.C. and stand up for the values of South Carolina’s Fifth Congressional District.  I hope to make this Web site a focal point for all those out there who would like to see this goal accomplished.  If you would like to help write for the site or in any other way please email me at S-a-m@D-u-m-p-S-p-r-a-t-t.c-o-m (without the dashes between the letters).  If you have other ideas and suggestions on ways of organizing please feel free to contact me and share.  And more importantly, if you are a potential candidate I would definitely like to hear from you.

Lets all do our part to bring some real hope and change to Washington and South Carolina’s Fifth District!
